Karl Sterrer
Karl Sterrer (1885, Vienna – 1972, Vienna) was a painter and graphic artist. He was the son of the sculptor Carl Sterrer. He created famous propaganda posters for the war effort during the First World War. His work received many national and international awards, such as the Prix de Rome, the Kaiserpreis and the Reichel Prize. In 1953, he received the Austrian state prize. From 1921, he taught at the Vienna Academy and was its rector between 1937 and 1938.
